KSD Renovation Project
Cassi Renninger, Jeremy Beatty, and John Pappas were present at the September 13 School Board meeting to discuss the changes to the construction project and the bidding timeline. Agreed-upon reductions to the project include the following:
- Eliminate Rear Site Development
- Eliminate student dropoff and parking area behind the stadium
- Maintain the current locations for the tennis courts and the maintenance building
- Simplify Site Materials and Amenities
- Building Scope Reduction
- Eliminate the rear student entrance, corridor, and restrooms
- Eliminate second-floor restroom renovation
- Simplify Building Materials and Amenities
- Reduce casework and interior finishes
- Delete masonry restoration
- Simplify exterior materials
With these alterations, negotiating with the Primes, and bidding items as add/deduct alternates, there is a belief that the District has reduced the General Contractor bid by $7 million. At first bidding, General Contractor rates were over budget by approximately $5 million. Reductions to the project were made to ensure that the General Contractor fees will be within our budget.
The Rebidding Timeline is as follows:
- Redesign and Drawing Revisions: 8/16/2023 - 9/26/2023
- Rebidding: 9/26/2023 - 10/25/2023
- Board Review: 11/1/2023
- Board Award: 11/8/2023
