South Butler County School District Foundation
A Legacy of Giving

In 1972 William and Eva Knoch established a loan fund. The fund was established to help graduates of Knoch High School who were seeking to continue post-secondary education. This is the primary source of funds to Knoch High School students. Over the 35-year history of the fund, more than 1,350 students have received low-interest financial assistance. Over $2, 000,000 has been awarded to students. Adding to the Knoch Fund, named scholarships have been established over the years. Knoch alumni have received over 470 scholarships. These funds are overseen by the South Butler County School District Foundation, a private and non-profit corporation that is tax-exempt under section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code.

HOW CAN YOU HELP?

While many young men and women have been and still are being helped through this Fund, many more are not because of lack of funds. The fund is sound and has been carefully managed (with only interest being distributed). However, because the number of Knoch High School students continuing their education has grown from 10% in 1972 to 76% in 2012, the demand for financial assistance has also grown. Cost of education has also grown dramatically.

Through financial contributions to the Fund, donors reap numerous benefits:
  • The immediate income tax deduction and reduction of estate tax.
  • The permanent remembrance of loved ones with a living memorial.
  • The encouragement for others to give to the community, as the Knoch family has done.
  • The experience of the joy of helping young people from Southern Butler County

Consider including the Fund and its Community Scholarship Program among your regular charities and feel free to ask about scholarship naming opportunities and memorial donations. Anyone can give to the Fund, regardless of the amount. And donors need not have a named fund to give if so desired.
