Two Students take 1st place at Science Fair!

On Saturday, February 21st, Caden Hassler (grade 12) and Natalie Yeager (grade 9) were awarded 1st place awards at Region IX Pennsylvania Junior Academy of Science (PJAS) held at Slippery Rock University, qualifying them for the state competition.

PJAS is a science fair for students in grades 7-12. Students worked individually to complete their own scientific investigations and presented their work to other students and a panel of judges. Caden's project, "Better Burps" measured methane production from the digestion of cattle feed when different supplements were added. Natatlie's project, "How does Light affect Different Brands of Watercolor? measured RGB and Delta E values to see how pigments changed with light exposure.

The cost of their entry in PJAS was covered by a grant from Slippery Rock University and the Exxon Mobil Corporation.
