Near the end of the school day today, the crews working on the Knoch High School renovation project detected a mild gas smell emanating from the ground, indicating that there was a leak somewhere beneath. They immediately stopped work, the gas company was notified, and the gas service was shut down. Repairs will begin as soon as possible.
While the situation does not create a danger to students or staff, the lack of gas service means the high school and middle school will not have heat or the ability to cook tomorrow.
Therefore, Knoch High School and Knoch Middle School will utilize a Flexible Instruction Day tomorrow, Tuesday, April 23. Students were alerted that they needed to take home Chromebooks and any other materials necessary to have a productive instruction day tomorrow. As a reminder, Flexible Instruction Days run on a 2-hour delay schedule, which will be posted on the school web pages.
Finally, note that this F.I.D. Day will only apply to the secondary schools. Elementary school students and staff will not be affected and will attend on-campus on time as usual. Thank you.
