Underage Drinking Program for Parents

The Knoch School District will host a Parent Information Night entitled "The Power of Parenting" to equip parents with talking to their tweens and teens about underage drinking.

The event will be held in the Knoch High School Library from 7-8 p.m. on Tuesday, April 25, 2023.  All are welcome and encouraged to attend.

The presenter will be Ms. Lisa Gill, Prevention Specialist with Butler County Human Services.

Presentation description:  3 out of 4 kids (ages 8-17) said their parents are the leading influence on their decisions about drinking, but only about half of all parents say they’re comfortable talking about underage drinking with their kids. The Power of Parents program is one of Mothers Against Drunk Driving (MADD’s) underage drinking prevention programs.  Parents will gain information about how alcohol affects a teenager’s brain, pointers and tips on how to start and continue the conversation on underage drinking, and other protective factors to help keep your tween/teen alcohol-free. Attendees will also receive a handbook with more information to take home. Power of Parents is offered by the Butler County Prevention Team in coordination with Knoch School District and is sponsored by Nationwide Insurance.
